James Bland wrote the original song in 1880. I heard my grandma singing some verses of this tune sixty years ago.  Upon looking up the lyrics I was disappointed with the crassness of them.   It really being a catchy tune, I decided to clean the lyrics up and put a positive spin on them.<p>The midnight train is now the morning train referencing the return of Jesus Christ when He splits the eastern sky as lightening shining from east to west to gather His translated people to Himself.
