This song came from Cabin On the Hill by Flatt and Scruggs.   The notion of a church which meant a lot to a youth is a common theme.  The Cabin is a nostalgic song and nostalgia is good.   But Church is not just nostalgic but it is a plea for a return to that which we lost but could and should be found again.
