Tear Stained Altar A
I remember mom and dad, how they always used to go
with the friends and loved ones, that I used to know.
They would gather round the altar on an early Sabbath day
And lift their voices up in prayer till Jesus had His way.
On the old tear stained altar where friends knelt to pray.
That old tear stained altar where sins were washed away.
In that old country church where I was but a lad.
That's where I learned the good way from the bad.
It was just a country church, and their numbers there were few.
They were old-fashioned people, but their hearts were true.
They didn't have the style, like churches of today.
But Heaven really smiled on them when they knelt to pray.
