When I was just a lad
From time to time mom or dad
Would say to someone as they parted ways
I’ll see you on the other side one day
I really didn’t understand
Were they talking about a far off land
What exactly was this other side
Was it some place folks go to hide

Went to church and Sunday School
Learned about the Golden Rule
When we die we leave this world behind
That’s when we go to the other side
Mama’s already gone away
But I still hear daddy say
Ray my boy don’t worry when I go
Cause Jesus gave his life for me
Hangin’ on that old tree
If you have him in your heart
We will never part
I’ll see you on the other side one day
