Randy, I have Thomas Children as being Abraham 1761 (He fought in Rev War but not enough documented time to get a pension) Thomas 1765 (He fought and was killed at Hamar's Defeat.) Sarah 1767 (She married a Daniel Ullery and sued brother Francis. Sen Bob Dole descended from her.) Rhoda 1768 (She married a Jabish Phillips and was prominent in Warren Co.) John 1769 (Also fought at Hamar's Defeat but survived. Lived in Greene Co., OH) Ebenezer 1770 (Married 4 times - first time in Mason Co., KY) Caleb 1776 (Lived in Greene Co and then Clinton Co. OH - married to a Mary Price still in 1850 census) Massie ?? Francis 1782 (Probably in Pennsylvania) There is a chance that Thomas Lucas was married more than once. Reason that wife could be Sarah or Rhoda would be the naming of the daughters. Dr. Vallentine was a professor of genealogy at BYU. He is descended from Abraham (1761) and wrote a book in the 1970's / 1980's. He put the Lucas family behind him until 1995 when the court suit was found and he rewrote his book to include the three daughters. Myself and cousin Marilyn helped correct the Francis birth & death dates. Also I pointed out to Dr. Vallentine a small book researched and published by a William Yates, a descendant of Abraham Lucas, son of Aaron Lucas and grandson of Franz Lucas - the Abraham Lucas had association with our Thomas Lucas. Dr. Vallentine had in his first book that our Thomas Lucas was the son of Franz Lucas born in 1730 and with the additional research of William Yates, could not figure things out so he left his pedigree per his original conclusion. I don't know why Aaron isn't listed in Christine Lucas' Will. Elizabeth who is mentioned was in an institution. She had a son William who moved with George A. Lucas to La Porte County, IN in 1864. That is probably when the Lucas house became the Hayner house. I spent about 3 days on ancestry.com several years ago researching Lucas's from Turtle Creek Township, Ohio. Here is the tree I put together from that research. http://www.lucasco.info/upload/RandyLucas/Ancestry/LucasTree.htm My father moved to NC as a young man and lost track of the rest of the family. Please keep me posted of any new developments and I will do likewise. Thanks, again for all the info. That is if we are talking about Aaron Lucas of Warren Co., OH. I am descended from Aaron's brother George. Susannah married to Hezekiah Barr, Jennie Belle Barr married Will Knapp, Floyd Knapp (my grandfather). The person started me on genealogy was in a round robin letter circle mostly of Hezkiah Barr & Susannah Lucas descendents but they had a Mrs. Darlington who was a descendant of Aaron also in the circle. ------ There seems to be three or four controversies on our line 1) Francis Lucas (Aaron & George's father) birth and death dates Francis headstone cannot be located in the old part of the South Lebonan cemetery anymore. But at one time it was read that he died in 1845 or 1846 at age 61 thus birth as late as 1785, years after next older brother Caleb. I found a newspaper death announcement in1843 of his death and anoher cousin found where his will was executed in 1843. (A worn '3' could look like a 5 or 6.) Thus birth in 1782. The three years makes a difference of where he was born and possibly if he had the same mother as Caleb. It has been difficult to correct such a simple mistake. 2) Francis Lucas' father is Thomas Lucas. It hasn't been decided whether Thomas Lucas' father was Franz Lucas born in 1730 and died in 1824 or Thomas Lucas's father was Aaron Lucas and thus grandfather was Franz Lucas (possibly born in 1740). Our Thomas Lucas did travel with an Abraham Lucas who stayed in Kentucky whose father as Aaron Lucas. Dr. Vallentine could not really tell but leaving the extra generation out for his own tree. I put the extra generation in since a 94 year old guy would be noticed. 3) Fancis Lucas was sued by sister Sarah Ulery for inheritance from her father. There was will but was put aside or destoried. This court case listed 3 daughters of Thomas Lucas which was not known before 1995. 4) There was a second Caleb Lucas mentioned in the court proceedings - Caleb, son of Thomas, was known to be living in Greene Co., OH married to a Mary Price but mentions a Caleb not known to be alive living in possibly in Indiana. The passage is strange but I believe that oldest son of Thomas Lucas, Thomas Lucas had issue Caleb before he was killed in Hamar's Defeat. Many of Aaron's siblings went to Indiana or further west. Father Francis bought land in La Porte County, Indiana in abt 1835 and may traveled there then. I believe I saw that Aaron lost a son or two crossing the Little Miami. Hope this hits you with some information. Cheryl Rothwell is a very good general Lucas researcher - her ancestor is Aaron's uncle, Abraham Lucas, who moved to Logan Co., Illinois about 1835. I show Aaron as my 3rd grandfather: Aaron, Moses, Joseph, Edward, me. Let me know if we are connected. Thanks.
