What's Wrong with the Book of Mormon and Mormonism

• None of the people or places named in the BOM have any secular corroboration of having ever existed.
• Joseph Smith was a liar - there never were any plates
• Joseph Smith was a plagiarist - he copied directly from the Holy Bible (KJV)
• Joseph Smith was possessed by a demon - why introduce lies into the Plan of Salvation?
• Joseph Smith was a deceiver - he conscripted others to buy into his lie to create 'the church'
• Joseph Smith, like Lucifer, wanted to be a god
• Mormonism believes that the LDS is the Kingdom of God and that noone is saved who is not part of them
• Mormonism considers all non LDS Christians as apostate
• Mormonism places the BOM above the Holy Bible - it considers the Holy Bible flawed

To set the context, the quotes are from the BOM which Joseph Smith claims was written before Jesus was born.

  Referring to the BOM text. No where in the Holy Bible does it include such a disclaimer!

  Where are these plates? The 'messenger' took them - how convenient!
• most correct of any book on earth
  No book in the Holy Bible makes such a claim! So the BOM takes precedence over the Holy Bible.
• The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s kingdom
  So, only members of the Mormon church are in the kingdom of God!
• Urim and Thummim
  Urim and Thummim are never mentioned in the New Testament by Jesus or any of his apostles. This is pure mysticism - people fall for it all the time.
• I should be destroyed
  Jesus never threatened His apostles!
• taketh his brethren and returneth
  King James English? give me a break!
• believest in the Son of the most high God
  The only old testament reference to the Son of God is in Daniel 3:25. There is no emphasis on believing in the Son of God in the Old Testament!
• lifted up upon the cross and slain for the sins of the world
  The 'revelations' are abviously hind-sight transformations of the New Testament.
• And it came to pass that I beheld this great and abominable church;
  Church is a New Testament term.

  LDS is the ONLY true church! I see - typical controlling language - us against them!

  In 148BC Alma was doing the work of an apostle? Christ had not yet come. What 'Lord' did they believe in?

  Wow, what 'word' is that? Sounds like it is the prophet that is important since believing the prophet is what brings blessing!

  Ripped from Matthew 3:8. No way that unusual phraseology would be repeated in separate works!

  I can agree with Joe on this one but it's purely a 19th century issue he is ranting about!

  Belief in the words of a prophet is as important as belief in the words of Jesus!

  Us and them mentality - There is one body in Christ - all those who believe that Jesus is God and believe and obey His words.

  The Biblical genealogies are to prove the lineage of Jesus as the lion of the tribe of Judah. BOM genealogies are simply there to impress and serve no substantive purpose to the rest of the story.

  Jesus is the rock Matthew 16:15-19.

  Pretty clear to me that Joe never really saw them except by faith. The witnesses are instructed to see them by faith - the same way Joe did
• And again, I command thee that thou shalt not covet thine own property, but impart it freely to the printing of the Book of Mormon, which contains the btruth and the word of God
  An oracle from god to give your possessions for printing the BOM!
