Title: Paul was a preacher of the Gospel - not a baptizer

I thank the Lord that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; -
Water Baptism was a purification ritual symbolizing the acceptance of the baptizer as teacher, guru, master.

Paul is saying he did not want to be considered a guru or master.     He wanted Christ to be master.
Furthermore, if Water Baptism was critical to salvation, Paul would have made a point of baptising every person who believed.

There is no record that Jesus ever baptized anyone in water.     He came to baptize us with the Holy Spirit.

Paul was the greatest 'soul-winner' of his day.   He received the revelation of the pure Gospel of Grace Through Faith directly from our Lord.

It is important to remember that our Lord Jesus was:
Old Testament prophet
fulfiller of the Old Covenant
sacrificial lamb
New Covenant author and finisher

If is also important to remember that the disciples were Jewish men raised in Judaism.   That was a blessing and a curse to them as is true of all our traditions and past experiences.

Jesus entrusted the details of the Gospel of Grace to the apostle Paul.

There was a period of 15 years or more when the Jewish believers and the apostle Paul were at odds over the validity of Judaism in Christianity.
Paul's position was that it was an old, dead covenant that had been completely superceded by Grace.
The traditionalists then, just as today, held on to those things which were comforting to them.

And so we hear Paul, in essence, minimizing the act of Water Baptism in .

Paul understood that Water Baptism is a purely physical act which, as with all physical acts, is prone to being interpreted as more important than it actually is.

Jesus tried to make this clear to Nicodemus when He said: "That which is flesh, is flesh, and that which is spirit, is spirit.".

Under Grace there is no physical act which has spiritual value other than the words that we speak in testimony to the Lordship of Christ Jesus.
That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that He has raised Himself from the dead, you shall be saved. -
This is the encapsulation of Grace, clearly pointing out our part which is faith in Jesus and confession of Him as risen Lord and Saviour.

The implication of our part being to believe on Jesus Christ and confess Him as risen Lord, is that He has done everything else!
It is why we call it amazing Grace!
It is why the gospel is nearly too good to be true!

Who raised Jesus from the dead?
He raised Himself by His Holy Spirit .

For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -
It is Heart Faith that enables the miracle of the New Birth.

It is our personal confession of Jesus as mighty Creator and loving Saviour that seals that miracle.

So, we aught to have the correct understanding of the place of our two sacraments:
Water Baptism
Communion

Both are symbolic of what happens in the Spirit Realm by Faith.
Water cannot cleanse our spirits.
Food and drink cannot make us one with Christ.

We aught to be Water Baptized as a public testimony to our being Born Again by Grace Through Faith in Christ Jesus.

We aught to partake of Communion as a public testimony to the broken body and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But at the end of the day, it is our Faith that pleases our Lord and appropriates His blessings of Grace.

Experience Jesus Baptism by being immersed in His Word and filled with His Holy Spirit.
