Lord can mean different things depending on the context. But its origin in Hebrew is as an alternative name for referencing YHVH.
Regardless of the variable ways to define Lord it must be agreed that Lord implies highest rank.
Definition of Lord: one possessing authority, power, and control
We know that in the British Empire that there are lords and ladies. So, the term lord may in fact merely represent a status that is not the highest possible.
However, we see that Jesus is Lord Of Lords and King Of Kings.
And he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND Lord OF LORDS. - |
There may be those who will argue that there is a higher authority than the Lord Of Lords. Let's call Him 'God'.
The question that such a supposition raises is: "What does that authority look like?"
Obviously this 'God' has no power as all of it is invested in Christ Jesus.
But the very notion that there is 'God' with no power makes no sense. 'God', by definition must be sovereign and hold ultimate power.
So, for those who hold on to the Trinitarian concept of three in one, the question arises:
"Who is this 'God' who has no power but is somehow greater than the One who holds all power?"
I will leave the trinitarians reading this article to ponder that question while I move on to the simple, logical conclusion below.
Jesus is the express image of the Holy Spirit who is the omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent Creator 'God'. Jesus is Spirit Soul And Body just as we are who were created in His image.
Jesus is Lord in every sense of the Word and He defers to no other being than Himself who is defined by His Holy Spirit.
Worship Jesus. He is the Truth and His Spirit is the Holy Spirit whom He has shared with us.
