| Our soul is mind, emotions and will. → Sometimes we think that our thinking is in control. → Sometime we think it is our emotions that are in control. → But ultimately, it is our will that is in control of our lives. We conceive of ideas in our mind. We mull over them with rational testing. We assess them until we have an emotional inclination to act or not to act. But the commitment only occurs when our will is set.
Ross Perot, a former presidential candidate, asked the following question: "Are you going to fish or cut bait?"
What goes into our minds and is processed by consideration and emotional testing is like cutting bait. It is only when we decide and determine by an act of our will, do we move from the state of consideration and preparation to the state of action. To "make up your mind" is to come to a point where your will is committed to a specific action. If the Body Of Christ is to make a difference in the world, each of us must come under the authority of the head, who is Christ Jesus. His will is very explicit. Our will should be to do His will.
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. - |
