First of all, our Heavenly Father has no sorrow, so the concept of our sorrow being like the Lord's is wrong.   Godly Sorrow is being sorry for your existence apart from the Lord.

When you come to Christ, you are no longer and never again will be apart from Him.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. -

Repentance is not so much a turning for fear of damnation as it is a turning toward the Lord for relationship with Him.

It is love for the Lord that compels us to live according to His character.   It is His Holy Spirit that empowers us to do so.

When we experience Godly Sorrow we are sad and regretful for that which has separated us from the Lord.

Godly Sorrow should not be a mainstay of a believer's walk.   Why?
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. -
God through Christ Jesus has Forgiven all Sin for all Time for all Humanity ()

The only thing that separates a person from God is a lack of His Spirit in them ()

When we Receive Christ Jesus, we Receive His Word and His Spirit and become New Spirit beings ( )

There is no other way to be Reconciled to God ( )

We see that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of the Lord.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?     shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? -
We are untouchable, unapproachable and inperturbable In Christ.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, -
Nothing can come between us and the Father because we are In Christ by virtue of the New Birth and the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. -
It is the Love of God which envelopes and imbues us with His Peace and Comfort.

If sin is remembered no more and nothing can separate us from the love of the Lord, then we are eternally secure In Christ Jesus.

Our Lord is looking for Faith in us.   He knows that when we walk by Faith in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. -
To walk is actually to live.     The New Spirit being is the real you.     But you must allow the Word Of God to permeate your mind and heart and you must allow the Holy Spirit to empower you in order to manifest as a Son Of God.

Such a reorientation will result in you becoming Christ Conscious and no longer Sin Conscious.

Therefore, when we see a person who is obeying the flesh we should understand that they are not in the proper love relationship with the Lord.

Furthermore, we should understand that the Spiritual Laws of the Lord will play out resulting with them suffering the consequences of their action.

Is the Lord mad at them?   No.   Because He has chosen not to see their sin.   He sees them through the blood of His sacrifice - white as snow.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. -
Interestingly, we find God wanting man to Reason with Him.     Why?     Because what God determined to do makes no sense to the Religious Mind.     So, God wants us to listen very carefully to His Words and reconsider previous positions and thinking.

What is the issue that we need to seriously Meditate on in order to grasp?
It is the issue of Grace Through Faith in the Finished Work of Christ Jesus.

God is saying that our Sins are deep, dark scarlet stains but by virtue of what Christ Jesus did in His Sacrifice and Victory over Death, Hell and the Grave, we are now as white as snow.
In God's eyes we are Perfect In Christ.     This is the amazing Truth of the unadulterated Gospel.

If you know someone who has mixed Grace and Legalism into their faith, Reason with them with this verse so they can be Free Indeed.

Godly Sorrow is for the unbeliever.   It is not for the believer.   David spoke as he did in many of the Psalms because he was not under Grace but under Law.
What shall we say then?     Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? -
Since we are totally Free, totally Justified, totally Redeemed for ever, totally New Spirit beings the question becomes: can we Sin more so that more Grace may abound?

God forbid.     How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? -
It is inconsistent for someone who is in the Light to Walk in Darkness.

Therefore any stronghold that is uncovered in our lives should be cast down.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. -
Serving the Flesh is a dead end.     By turning our attention to Spiritual matters we will cease to serve the Flesh.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: -
In order for the New Spirit being to manifest we must willingly and purposely bring our bodies under subjection to the New Spirit.     This is only possible by the Power of the Holy Spirit working in our Minds and Emotions.

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) -
Spiritual Warfare is the undercurrent of all the p nsychological, emotional, moral, political, social and economic turmoil in the world.

No one can escape this warfare.     There is no possibility of being neutral.     The warfare comes to every person, every family, every church, every community, every state and every nation

Since Spiritual Warfare is unavoidable, we must first choose sides () secondly prepare for battle () and thirdly go forth into the battle ()

In order to fight the good fight of faith we must put on the whole armour of God ()

Once we are properly fitted for defense and protection we are to take up the Sword Of The Spirit - the Word Of God ()

The Word Of God is our offensive weapon.
When wielded in faith under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit it will pull down any stronghold that the enemy sets up.

Without the Word Of God we cannot defeat the enemy.     But when we go on offense with it, we will knock down the Gates Of Hell ()

There is no condemnation from the Lord toward us.   However, we aught to purify ourselves in pursuit of Abundant Life.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. -
When you are Born Again the Lord sees you as you truly are: a New Spirit being whose soul and body will be redeemed at the appearing of Christ Jesus.

He does not see the Sin in our lives because of the blood of Jesus and His promise of Eternal Life.

If you think there is anything separating you from God you are doubting the Love Of God and finished work of Jesus Christ

Start believing in the perfect Love Of God and the power of the blood of Christ so that you enjoy an intimate, personal relationship with Him in the Holy Spirit.
Your prayers will be answered.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.     Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. -
It is God who draws us to Him by the Holy Spirit but that is just a tug.     We must respect His wooing by turning to Him and desiring Him.

Sinners can only cleanse their hands by repenting, turning to Christ and receiving His cleansing blood,

Christians can only purify their hearts by deciding to believe the Word Of God exclusively.     Otherwise, they are Double Minded which yields confusion, fear, unbelief and weakness.
