But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

Here we see how our desire and preferences come into play for how the Lord works in and through us. We are partners with the Lord.

It is part of our Carnal Minded tendencies to value function over state. The functions of the Holy Spirit through the Spirit Gifts are not to be valued about the state of being one with the Lord. We are one with the Lord by the Holy Spirit who is and so operates in love.

For he received from the Holy Spirit Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Translated from KJV

Peter heard the Father ( Holy Spirit) praise the Son.

God is the generic name for deity.
Father represents an action resulting in a relationship. The Holy Spirit birthed our Lord Jesus Christ and has bestowed all power in heaven and earth in Jesus by whose name we are saved.

Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sends greeting.

You, O king, saw, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before you; and the form thereof was terrible.

At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Excellent majesty is that which issues from the Holy Spirit.

What Nebuchadrezzar had before was bravado, threats and fear.

Now he is humbled and his heart is healed so that he manifests as our Lord intends.

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and showing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.

Our Lord wants to dissolve our doubts. He writes His Word into our hearts. When we allow Him to transform our minds, we are able to walk in faith by His Holy Spirit.

I have even heard of you, that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in you.

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

An ExcellentSpirit is one which manifests the character of the Holy Spirit.

Such a spirit is recognized for its value even among pagans.

Abel's offering acknowledged man's need for the Lord. Cain's offering was obligatory.

Being made so much better than the angels, as he has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

The body of Jesus was made for the eternal Holy Spirit to inhabit. He is the physical form and the direct expression of the mind of the eternal Word. Jesus inherited the Holy Spirit by being sent into the world by the Holy Spirit. His excellent name is the only name whereby men can be saved.

Jesus is Spirit Soul And Body.       He is:
   → the Spirit Of God
   → the Soul Of God
   → the Body Of God
   → the Name Of God.

Jesus is God.

But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

The better covenant is Grace Through Faith which is offered to all humanity.

Christ Jesus is the Lord and He has reconciled us to Himself because He is the perfect mediator.

Sing unto the Lord; for he has done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

The earth is magnificent. Life is amazing. The works of His hands are glorious.

How some men deny His existence is unfathomable.

This also comes forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

In that day shall the branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

Luke has perfect understanding from the Holy Spirit to write the words of the Gospel of Luke.

As we grow in Grace and knowledge of Christ we are better prepared to recognize those things which are excellent and those which are tainted. In addition we become more Sincere and more cautious of offending the weak.

The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduces them.

He that has knowledge spares his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Excellent speech becomes not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

A righteous man's heart is for edification. His strike is with light and Truth which are pleasant and healing.

Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

The name of the Lord is Jesus. He is worthy of all praise, glory and honour both now and forever.

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

When we realize that everything we are or have or experience is a gift from the Lord, we automatically lift our hearts, our hands and our voices in praise and glory and honour to Him.

But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

David loves those that love and honour the Lord - the excellent.
