And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.    - Mar 8:31

This in a nutshell tells the Disciples the key events that will take place in the near future .

And have you not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner: - Mar 12:10

The Prophets foretold how the Jewish leadership will reject the Messiah and chief cornerstone.

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.    - Luk 7:30

Elites tend to Self Righteousness and are apt to be Unbelievers - totally Carnal Minded .      They refused to repent .      They refused the Truth .      They refused Life .      Why ?      They loved the Status Quo .      It is a fact that rejection of Truth places a person at odds with themselves.

Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.    - Luk 9:22

Son Of Man identifies Jesus as God born to man.      Jesus tells the Disciples directly how His earthly ministry will end - with cruel Death and Glorious Resurrection .

But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.    - Luk 17:25

And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected , the same is become the head of the corner?    - Luk 20:17

He makes a last ditch effort to use Prophetic Scripture to reveal the Truth of who He is and what they were about to do .

And my temptation which was in my flesh you despised not, nor rejected ; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus .    - Gal 4:14

Apparently Paul bore the scars and dishevelment of his mistreatment but the Galatians received his preaching as if he were Christ Himself .

But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected , and is near unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.    - Heb 6:8

But that which does not bear Fruit will be destroyed .

For you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected : for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.    - Heb 12:17

Carnal Minded people eventually do themselves in through Sin whose wages are Death .
