Is the mafia boss therefore innocent of extortion?   

Hitler never killed a single Jew.   But his henchmen killed 6,000,000.   

Is Hitler therefore innocent of murder?   

Most Americans who are receiving 'assistance' from the government do not see themselves as thieves.   They convince themselves that the government does it out of charity and good will.   

But the government is not a person and the government produces nothing.   The government is simply a mechanism for taking power and money from the people.   Not very different from the mafia boss.   

Do you think it is immoral to receive stolen goods?   I am not sure what the case it today, but it used to be a crime to knowingly receive stolen goods.   It is certainly immoral.   

What I am trying to point out is that each of us have a responsibility to the person who gives us money.   It should be a transaction where both sides get something.   

An employee works and the employer pays for that work.   
You receive a car and pay the dealership for that car.   
You receive a house and pay the builder for that house.   

These are examples of transations that are willingly engaged in by both parties.   

That is a healthy, moral way of conducting business.   

But to live off of extorted money is unhealthy and immoral.   

Do not deceive yourself.   You are either a net producer or a net eater.
