| When the World is referenced in the Bible it can mean different things:
--- The Earth
--- The People on the Earth
--- Unbelievers
--- Value systems and philosophies
Accordingly, we need to Understand who or what is being referenced by the word, World, in order to Understand the meaning of the Scripture at hand. Whether we can Love The World on not depends on what is meant by World and the priority of that Love with respect to God. For Demas has forsaken me, having Loved this Present World, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. - 2Ti 4:10The World that Paul is Speaking of is the World that God created - the Blessings of Earth and the way of Life that most people enjoy. Paul did not say Demas had forsaken Christ - only him. Many Christians do not commit to the Work of Christ as Paul and Timothy did. They are more like Demas who having a love of the present World are not willing to sacrifice the transient pleasure for the greater Glory. |
