By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. -
1Co 15:2How does one
Believe in
Vain? If you do not keep in memory (rehearse) the
Gospel it has no effect on your life. The
Transformation of our
Minds is a reorientation which results in oir meditating on the
Word day and night.
Memory is a function of the brain which stores Information and provides a network of access to that Information.
When we are young and healthy our brains are very proficient at storing and retrieving Information. But as we get older our brains do not function as well in those areas.
But even when our brain is functioning well it is possible for us to effectively forget things that we have heard or seen or have happened in the past. When someone mentions it, we say, "Oh yeah, I had forgot about that.".
So, it is necessary for us to Rehearse the important things from our past so that they stay fresh in our Memory.
In the above verse Paul implies that simply not bringing to Mind those important facts about our Salvation can result in those facts having no impact on our lives.
But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. -
Jam 1:22Exercise what you
Know in the
Lord. Practice is the only way to imrpove your
Spiritual skills.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: -
Jam 1:23Shallowness does not impress
God in the least. It is actually repugnant to Him.
But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. -
