Title: Facing the battle with Jesus

In an episode of Star Trek TNG Picard encounters a situation with the leader of a people who spoke only with reference to historic events.

Obviously, without the context for those references Understanding the meaning was difficult.

As Picard slowly Understand the stories to which his adversary referred, he began to recognize that his enemy was not his enemy after all, but a person who wanted to share an experience with him to solidify their relationship.

The Bible is the History of people of Faith in God. Those events in Biblical History are examples by which we are to live. A good way to evoke those examples is by associating what we or someone else is going through with what happened to people in Biblical History in similar circumstances.

What does this mean? It means that we ought not see each experience we have as unique and isolated. Rather, we ought to see each new experience as a specific instance of a general event. That general event is one from our Biblical History.

What happened in the Bible when a person of Faith encountered a similar situation?

Thinking along this line and evoking the memory of the Biblical Victory that occurred engenders Faith to be Victorious in the specific case that you are experiencing.

Your servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God. - 1Sa 17:36

In the encounter with Goliath, David referred back to how God had empowered him to defeat the lion and the bear. This enabled him to visualize his Victory over the giant.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. - Mat 4:4
This is not just a response to put Satan off. But, more importantly, it is a statement of SpiritualLaw which clearly elevates the importance of every Word of God. We cannot experience AbundantLife without abiding in His Word.

Just as Food is necessary for PhysicalLife, the WordofGod is necessary for SpiritualLife. God is a Spirit so we can only relate to Him in Spirit and in Truth by Faith. We need the HolySpirit of God and we need the WordOfGod.

Jesus is telling us to refer to the WordOfGod for Victory in Life.
We are to call to mind what God has Promised and what He has done for others.

You will never face a battle on your own if you will call to Mind the Promises of God.

Just as Darmok and Jalad joined forces to defeat their enemy at Tanagra, your Faith in Christ's presence and Power in you by the HolySpirit will give you the Victory.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, - Eph 3:20
God is able to do these things but we determine if they will manifest by allowing His Power (HolySpirit) to Work in and through us.

Lastly, there was another metaphore in the Star Trek TNG episode: "Temba, his arms wide."
Arms wide is a symbol of acceptance and love. In Truth, we can replace Temba with Jesus and the metaphore is Perfect:
Jesus His arms wide .

Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. - Mat 11:28

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. - Rev 3:20
What a wonderful visual of our Saviour!

God wants every person to come to Him and Know Him as Redeemer, Healer, Provider, Protector, Advocate and HighPriest.
