Title: The Milk of the Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the Lord, and the Word was the Lord.
What does it mean by in the beginning was the Word ?
A 'word' is an expression of an idea.
An idea comes from a mind that is self-aware and able to think.
When a word is spoken it has a purpose and it often has an intensity or emotion connected with it.
Mind, will and emotions constitute a Soul.

So, the Soul Of God existed in the beginning.

What does it mean by the Word was with God ?
    God is a Spirit
A spirit is the qualitative aspect of a being.     It represents the nature and value system of that being.
The spirit of a being is the essence of that being.
So, the Soul Of God was with the Spirit Of God in the beginning.

What does it mean by the Word was God ?
It means that the Soul Of God and the Spirit Of God constitute one divine being.

emphasizes the fact that the Soul Of God and the Spirit Of God existed in the beginning.

tells us that this God who is Soul and Spirit created all things.

tells us that Jesus made the world.

tells us that the Soul Of God, the Word, was made flesh and dwelt among us.     Now we have the Body Of God.     This is Jesus.

tells us that Jesus is the express image of God.

So, God is a single being who is Spirit Soul And Body just as man is who was created in His image .
    the Soul Of God,
    the Spirit Of God and
    the Body Of God
constitute one God as is emphasized in .

The same was in the beginning with the Lord.
Jesus is the physical manifestation of the Holy Spirit.     Before Jesus was born in the flesh, He existed as the image of the Holy Spirit in heaven and on earth, though His form may have changed as needed.
These physical manifestations of preincarnate Jesus are called theophanies.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Jesus is the eternal and Incarnate Word who spoke and the Holy Spirit created all things.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
In the body of Jesus was life - the life of the Holy Spirit.     The Holy Spirit in the body of Jesus enabled Him to speak words of Truth which brought light and life to those who received it,

And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Darkness cannot defeat light.

Those who prefer darkness cannot understand light.

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from the Lord unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, you that art highly favoured, the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women.
Who is the Lord?     Christ Jesus is Lord.     But who was Lord before Jesus was born?     The Holy Spirit.     So, preincarnate Christ was with her at the time of her impregnation which was by the Lord, the Holy Spirit.

And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for you have found favour with the Lord.
Another messenger from the Lord speaking peace and good news.

Who is the Lord?     He is the Lord.
Who was with Mary?     The Lord.
Who impregnated Mary?     The Holy Spirit.
Who is the Father?     The Holy Spirit.
Who is the Son?     Christ Jesus.

The body of Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit who is Father and Lord.     Jesus was annointed (filled) with the Holy Spirit making Him Lord the Lord.

And, behold, you shall conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name JESUS.
The naming of Jesus (which means Saviour) was important because in using the name of Jesus and its power we are reminded that He is Saviour.

For the Holy Spirit so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The Holy Spirit is the eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent Creator of all things by the Word.

What world is John speaking of?
The earth and all the people born into humanity.

The Holy Spirit is love and love is of the Holy Spirit.

The world was created by our Lord and it is good.     We know that man chose rebellion against the Holy Spirit and so humanity became evil.     But the Holy Spirit loves the people of this world and so He birthed Christ Jesus into the world to redeem it and us.

The Gospel is heard and those who are hungry are lead by the Holy Spirit to believe and receive the Truth.

The Truth sets us free from sin, from death and hell and brings us to Eternal Life by the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Here is understanding:
    Everlasting Life is Eternal Life
Eternal Life is union with the Holy Spirit.

That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that His Holy Spirit has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
This is the encapsulation of Grace, clearly pointing out our part which is faith in Jesus and confession of Him as risen Lord and Saviour.

The implication of our part being to believe on Jesus Christ and confess Him as risen Lord, is that He has done everything else!
It is why we call it amazing Grace!
It is why the gospel is nearly too good to be true!

Who raised Jesus from the dead?
He raised Himself by His Holy Spirit .

For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
It is Heart Faith that enables the miracle of the New Birth.

It is our personal confession of Jesus as mighty Creator and loving Saviour that seals that miracle.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Awesome statement of the love and the will of the Lord for every human being!

This is the Gospel Truth.

Have you Seen the Son?
We see Christ Jesus through eyes of faith in the Word of the Lord and its power to save us.

Note that the Holy Spirit is Everlasting Life.

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Jesus preached the Gospel of the kingdom and healed.

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.     Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

After that, he was seen of above five hundred brothers at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
Eye witnesses to the resurrection made powerfully convincing ministers of the Gospel

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
And so Jesus ends His earthly ministry leaving it to His disciples who would experience Spirit Baptism 10 days later and be empowered to testify of Him.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Two angels appeared to give encouragement.

Which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven?     this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.
Jesus will return!     That is the grreat encouragement that the angels gave the disciples.

And, behold, I send the promised Holy Spirit Father upon you: but tarry you in the city of Jerusalem, until you be endued with supernatural power.
Understanding this verse:
Jesus is giving a command (send)
A promise is an announcement of potential.
'my Father' may best be understood as 'my generator'.
The Holy Spirit is the one who generated Jesus.
Jesus is ordaining His own Spirit to come to us.
We are to wait for His Holy Spirit to come upon us and fill us before going out in Jesus' name.
When we are baptized with the Holy Spirit we then have both the authority of Jesus and the power of His Spirit in us.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Holy Spirit gave them utterance.
Spirit Baptism is necessary for a powerful life in Christ.     Yes, we are Born Again and given the gift of Eternal Life by faith in Jesus Christ.     That is necessary for us to be Spirit Filled.

Some people receive the Holy Spirit baptism at the same time as they are Born Again, but most do not.
Primarily, this is a result of not being taught to expect the Holy Spirit baptism.
Secondly, there has been no demonstration of Spirit Baptism in many churches.

For those who may not understand who and what the Holy Spirit is, understand this:
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit Of Christ Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is not some 3rd person of some godhead.
The Holy Spirit is the eternal, omniscient, omnipresent being who created us and redeemed us by our Lord Jesus.

Receive Him and fellowship with Him who is Eternal Life and Abundant Life.

And he said unto them, Go you into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
This is the Great Commission.     It is still in force.     We are expected to carry the Gospel to every creature.

Jesus did not expect every person to believe, but He wants us to make sure all nations hear the Gospel as it is a criteria for His return.
