# | Item | Description |
| | And they burn unto the Lord every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the Lord, our Lord; but you have forsaken him. |
| | And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and diverse kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' art: and they made a very great burning for him. |
| | Behold, I build an house to the name of the Lord my Lord, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the Lord, our Lord. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel. |
| | |
| | Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the Lord of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, |
| | Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. |
| | Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to know, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;) |
| | And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord showed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | Take you also unto you principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, |
| | And the Lord said unto Moses, Take unto you sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight: |
| | And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. |
| | |
| | And the incense altar, and his staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle, |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | And he burnt sweet incense thereon; as the Lord commanded Moses. |
| | My meat also which I gave you, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed you, you have even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, says the Lord. |
| | For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings. |
| | I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. |
| | And he said unto me, Son of man, cause your belly to eat, and fill your bowels with this roll that I give you. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. |
| | Then shall you know that I am the Lord, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols. |
| | |
| | |
| | Take an harp, go about the city, you harlot that have been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered. |
| | And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. Man was created for the Lord. It is only in Him that we are sweet and beautiful. Those who are apart from the Lord are trapped in stench and ugliness. |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me. |
| | |
| | |
| | The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him. |
| | The womb shall forget him; the worm shall feed sweetly on him; he shall be no more remembered; and wickedness shall be broken as a tree. |
| | |
| | And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. |
| | And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If you had not plowed with my heifer, you had not found out my riddle. |
| | |
| | And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the Lord, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: |
| | |
| | |
| | And he shall cleave it with the wings thereof, but shall not divide it asunder: and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord. |
| | |
| | And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. |
| | |
| | And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. |
| | As for the oblation of the firstfruits, you shall offer them unto the Lord: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. |
| | And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord: |
| | |
| | And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the Lord's. |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | And he shall take of it his handful, of the flour of the meat offering, and of the oil thereof, and all the frankincense which is upon the meat offering, and shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour, even the memorial of it, unto the Lord. |
| | In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is baked, you shall bring it in: and the baked pieces of the meat offering shall you offer for a sweet savour unto the Lord. |
| | |
| | And Moses took them from off their hands, and burnt them on the altar upon the burnt offering: they were consecrations for a sweet savour: it is an offering made by fire unto the Lord. |
| | And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. |
| | You shall sow, but you shall not reap; you shall tread the olives, but you shall not anoint you with oil; and sweet wine, but shall not drink wine. |
| | Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be you sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength. |
| | |
| | |
| | And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord; as you do, so he shall do. |
| | |
| | |
| | And for a drink offering you shall offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the Lord. |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | After this manner you shall offer daily, throughout the seven days, the meat of the sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord: it shall be offered beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering. |
| | But you shall offer the burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the Lord; two young bullocks, one ram, seven lambs of the first year; |
| | |
| | |
| | And you shall offer a burnt offering, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord; thirteen young bullocks, two rams, and fourteen lambs of the first year; they shall be without blemish: |
| | And you shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet savour unto the Lord; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year without blemish: |
| | |
| | |
| | But you shall offer a burnt offering unto the Lord for a sweet savour; one young bullock, one ram, and seven lambs of the first year; they shall be unto you without blemish: |
| | |
| | But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to the Lord. At present Paul is in a good place due to their support which is, to use Old Testament terminology, a sweel smelling odour that is well pleasing to the Lord. |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet words. |
| | My son, eat you honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to your taste: |
| | The full soul loathes an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. |
| | We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of the Lord in company. When we are betrayed we go back over our experiences with those who betrayed us trying to make sense of what has happened. |
| | And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. We want to know the future,...or do we? |
| | And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey. |
| | O my dove, that are in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see your countenance, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and your countenance is comely. |

| | And the roof of your mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goes down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. |
