So that the Lord could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day. Jer 44:22 This is the first occurrence of the words 'abomination' and 'desolation' in the same passage.      It lays out the basic understanding of the phrase: Abomination That Makes Desolate.      Specifically, it connects gross wickedness (abominations) with the extreme destruction (desolation) of a people, their culture, their government and, ultimately, their sovereignty.      That which was once glorious has become an astonishment to those who observe its fall from grandeur to nothingness.

Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed. Eze 33:29 Why does it take a person or a nation to suffer utter collapse before they acknowledge the Lord?      Though this verse was fulfilled in the collapse of Israel as a nation of people, it applies to America and the western nations as well.      Sin has been a part of every generation of people since Eden.     However, the state of gross wickedness, or abominations, comes only infrequently as a result of prosperity, arrogance, willfullness, perversion, hardened hearts and strong delusion.      The Law Of The Lord contains the power to bless adherents and to curse rebels.      What happens in rebellion is that the person or nation commits suicide by willfully crashing against the law and order of the Creator.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Dan 9:27 A covenant exists for 1 week of years (7 years).     After 3 1/2 years the covenant is broken with the stoppage of the sacrifices.      What sacrifices?     Many believe that it will be the yearly sacrifices in the Hebrew temple in Jerusalem.      But there are two problems with this understanding:    → there is no Hebrew temple in Jerusalem    → In the New Covenant the Holy Spirit dwells in human bodies, not a building.      The beast will come against Christianity to destroy it because it has resisted his policies.      The beast will make it illegal    → to name the name of Christ Jesus,    → to quote the Bible as authority    → to speak against immorality    → to congregate.      He does this to increase the intensity of abominations and to increase the number of people involved in abominations for the end result of the destruction of humanity.      It is the concentrated, determined effort by this satanically inspired man and his regime that will precipitate the return the Lord Jesus Christ.

And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that makes desolate. Dan 11:31 The political, economic, technological and military power will be at the disposal of the beast.      The sanctuary of strength refers to the Body Of Christ.      The beast will make Christianity illegal while elevating gross wickedness to respectability thus ensuring the collapse and destruction of his government.         → partially by his own policies    → totally by Christ Jesus by the Word Of His Mouth

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Dan 12:11 3 1/2 years will pass between the time that public worship is stopped and the final blasphemy by the Beast.      45 days after this event the Beast is destroyed at the appearing of Christ in the air.

When you therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso reads, let him understand:) Mat 24:15 It is important to note that the Body Of Christ is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.     The Lord is no longer concerned about buildings (if He ever was).      This verse is telling us to watch for the rise of the Spirit Of Antichrist identified by its legitimization of abominations.     These abominations will automatically bring about the destruction (or desolation) of the Antichrist Kingdom.      When we see wickedness in High Places (Seven Mountains) we are to stand in the Word and Holy Spirit - the holy place.     Our redemption is at hand.

But when you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that reads understand), then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: Mar 13:14 The Abomination That Makes Desolate is the elevation of wickedness to respectability.     We are not to look for a physical Temple to be built or desecrated.     Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.      Where are wickedness and abominations permitted?     No where.      'Where it aught not' is everywhere.      The earth is the Lord's.     Satan has no legitimate claim over it.     However, he can receive the souls of every person who rejects Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord, claiming them as his property.      The Anti Christ will brazenly blaspheme the Lord Jesus Christ and do acts to show his disdain for Him and those who serve Him.     Because the persecution will be severest in Judea people are encouraged to leave their homes and flee into the mountains.

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: Rev 17:4 The Abomination That Makes Desolate is brought about by the Principle Prostitution of billions of people to the Great Whore who comes under the control of the Beast.

And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Rev 17:5 Babylon the great is the world economic system organized by people under the influence of the Spirit Of Antichrist.     Control of this system will be given to the Beast.      The lust for money and material things will draw people away from the Truth of the Lord Jesus Christ into the darkness of Satan.      The Great Whore will present herself as good while actually calling good, evil and evil, good.      Abominations result in desolation.      The elevation of wickedness to respectability will lead the whole world to destruction under the Beast.
