God has Faith! by Barry Bennett

God has faith! He is the Author of faith (Heb. 12:2.) When we understand what faith is –

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Heb. 11:1

- then it is easy to see that all of creation is the substance and evidence of that which God decreed before it was visible.

And He holds all things together by His Word.
God, who ……calls those things which be not as though they were. (Rom. 4:17)
….upholding all things by the word of His power (Heb. 1:3)

God has faith in Himself, in His Word, in His plan of redemption and in the eternal future that He has planned but has not yet come to pass.

He can only expect faith from us (we are created in His image), because He Himself has faith. His Word cannot fail. He stands behind it. It will accomplish its purpose.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please - Isa. 55:11

That statement is a faith statement!

How does this impact us? When we hear His Word, faith is born in our hearts and a spiritual transaction takes place. There is a new birth. Faith meets faith.

The faith of God in His Word activates the capacity of the human heart to believe, and life comes from death.

For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? - Rom. 3:3

Here the Greek word for faith in the phrase ‘faith of God,’ is ‘pistis,’ the exact word used for the faith of men in so many other passages. God has faith!

In spite of the unbelief of some, His purposes will be accomplished. All who hear and believe have full assurance that God’s Word cannot fail.

Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. - Isa. 46:11

All of His promises can be activated by a believing heart. God can be trusted!

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. - 2 Cor. 1;20
