Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. - Rev 2:5
When a person first comes to Christ they experience the Love, Joy and Peace of God in an overwhelming way. They have a desire to Praise and Thank God for His Grace and are apt to share with others the wonderful thing that has happened to them.
At the same time, the new Convert is hungry for more of God. They love to attend Church and to Fellowship with other Believers. They want to allow this new experience to change their lives.
Such feelings and inclinations are the First Works that Jesus refers to in Rev 2:5. Those First Works should in fact reflect a new trajectory for our lives. There should never be a desire to reverse direction to the old paths.
The vitality of our Relationship with God is dependent on the quality time we invest with Him in Prayer and studying the Word.
Since Christ Jesus (Anointed Saviour) is the perfect embodiment of the Holy Spirit and the Word, to be In Christ is to be in the Holy Spirit and in the Word.
For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. - Col 3:3
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory. - Col 3:4
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Gal 2:20
So, we see how that our New Spirit should manifest in our Soul and Body by the Power of the Holy Spirit working in us so that we Walk By Faith rather than by Sight.
