Without taking the time to develop the full subject of prosperity on the level of spirit, soul/emotions, mind, physical health, in relationships, and with resources, I have some questions that believers should reflect on before declaring that they are against “prosperity preaching.”
Which environment reflects the nature of God, prosperity or poverty, abundance or lack?
Which condition reflects the desire of God for His people under the Law; blessings or curses?
Which condition reflects the desire of Jesus; abundance, or “steal, kill, and destroy”?
Is poverty a result of righteousness, or of Adam’s sin?
Does injustice create prosperity or poverty?
Does sickness create abundance or lack?
Does ignorance build up or destroy?
Does laziness produce prosperity, or poverty?
Does God desire the results of sin, injustice, sickness, ignorance, and laziness for His people?
Did God establish seedtime and harvest to impoverish the earth, or to bless it?
Does a seed carry the potential for increase?
Can an idea seed create wealth?
Can the seed of diligence create wealth?
Can favor create opportunities?
Can the seed of generosity create a harvest of blessings?
Does God want His will done on earth as it is in heaven?
What is His will in heaven?
Does poverty reflect the nature of God, or is it the result of the curse of sin and Satan? Would you rather live in the presence of God’s nature or Satan’s nature?
While it is true that we live in a fallen world of darkness, lust, lack, and sickness, we don’t’ have to believe and receive poverty. We can walk in the light, walk in love, be thankful, be generous, and expect God’s increase in our lives on every level.
