A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. -
What about the "man in the middle" - the man that has good and bad qualities?
Isn't the middle where most men are?
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. -
Wait a minute! That verse makes the 'middle' position even more untenable.
The explanation for the inconsistency between what Jesus said and what we see is found in the following verse:
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. -
If only God is Good then where does that leave us? Can we be Good ?
Christ in us makes us Good.
The lack of Christ in us makes us Evil.
This is why Jesus told Nicodemus "you must be born again". Nicodemus was an Evil man because he had a Sin Nature as do all of us.
Though he seemed to be a Good Man from his own and his society's perspective, this was just a Delusion.
Each of us who are Born Again have a New Nature which wrestles against the Sin Nature every day.
This is why we seem to be in the 'middle'.
God does not see our Sin Nature because it was crucified with Christ. It is covered by His blood.
But we see it and others do too!
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof. -
For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. -
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: -
We see very clearly from the above verses that, while in the Flesh , Christians are capable of doing Good and Evil.
Christians are Good in their Spirits because their Spirits are born of God's Spirit.
Christians are Evil in their Souls up until the time they are Transformed to have the Mind of Christ.
Christians tend toward Evil in their bodies until the time that their Body is translated from corruptible to incorruptible.
How then do our bodies Manifest Good ?
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit , and you shall not fulfil the Lust of the Flesh. -
I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God , that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God , which is your reasonable service. -
So, we see that the extent to which our Mind is Transformed to the Mind of Christ and our Body is submitted as a living Sacrifice to God is the extent to which we Manifest the Good Man of our perfect Spirit.
