John 4:24
God is a Spirit : and they that Worship him must Worship him in Spirit and in Truth .
John 3:6
That which is Born of the Flesh is Flesh ; and that which is Born of the Spirit is Spirit .
John 6:63
It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the Flesh profiteth nothing: the Words that I Speak unto you, they are Spirit , and they are Life .
How do we Serve God ?
We can't Serve God just in the Flesh because He is a Spirit .
We must Serve God in Spirit and Truth just as we Worship Him that way.
We Serve God by serving others. How then do we best Serve others?
Many people believe that we do so by meeting their Physical needs - by giving a "cup of water" in Jesus Name .
But that more often than not is merely the Flesh serving the Flesh with perishable gifts.
Jesus did not send His Disciples to go forth throughout the world "feeding the poor".
He commanded us to "Go into all the world and Preach the Gospel ".
His Word about the Gospel is Spirit and it is Life .
But what about the "cup of water"?
Maybe Jesus was talking about the " Living Water ". Maybe even this passage was focusing on the Spiritual needs of others.
When Jesus interacted with people He met all of their needs. He forgave Sins . He set them Free . He Healed their Diseases .
We are His Disciples charged to do His Works in a greater way than even He did.
Share the Gospel . Teach the Gospel . Preach the Gospel . Sing the Gospel .
The Gospel is the Power of God unto Salvation ! It will make the Hearer who Receives it whole !
