Leavening is rising by any means .   Baking soda and baking powder are chemical leaveners while yeast Leavens by fermentation.

Leaven may be Good or Evil.   It has the effect of enlarging whatever it is Found in.

Whatever we are exposed to affects Us.   You might Say it infects us.

People have become very conscious of Health related exposures, infections and contagions. Accordingly, they have modified their eating habits and changed their Physical lifestyles.

But we are seeing Mental Health Issues on the rise with increased suicides, drug abuse, lawlessness and terrorism.

Leaven in bread is Good.   Unleavened bread is Bad.   In the instances where unleavened bread was used it symbolized the Perfect , sinless Sacrifice of Christ.

As we Will See in the Scriptures that Follow , Leaven is Not Just Sin.
Another parable spoke he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. -
Leaven may be good or evil.     Regardless it will eventually leaven the whole lump.

The Kingdom Of Heaven is the Lord, the Holy Spirit who issues from the Spirit Realm into the Physical Realm.

Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. -
The religious leaders often poison the bread they are serving with subtle if not obvious lies.

How is it that you do not understand that I spoke it not to you concerning bread, that you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? -
Jesus is baffled by their lack of spiritual insight.

Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. -
In the rebuke they were jogged into thinking spiritually.

And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod. -
leaven spreads in dough because it is a bacteria.     That is a good thing.     But the leaven of the pharisees and Herod is lies which will contaminate the hearer.

In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware you of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. -
legalism is always fraught with hypocrisy and should be avoided in all its forms.

It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. -
leaven spreads itself through the dough.     This is what the Spirit and the Word are supposed to be doing.

Your glorying is not good.     Know you not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? -
Here we see a conunfrum being identified.     do we have mercy or judgment?     do we maintain our purity through judgment or by Grace.

I think Paul, as a pharisee, struggled with how to deal with sin.     It is still an issue today.

I rather think that sin is evidence of a relationship problem.     The solution to a relationship problem cannot be found outside the parties of the relationship.

So, Paul is correct in his position.     The person who is part of the body needs to rectify their behavior which is hurting the body and afterwards be restored to full fellowship.

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened.     For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: -
The reality is that every local church is impure because not everyone in it is pure.     do we weed out the impure ones?     If so, we will end up with an empty building.

The sentiment here is a good one - purity and holiness.     But it is not practical or even desirable to have a church which is above reproach.     Such a church would by definition be pharaisaical in their minds, hearts and lives.
Its focus would be on behavior rather than faith.

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. -
yes, sincerity and truth.     The focus must be on what is in a person's heart.     Are they in fellowship with Christ or not?

A little leaven leavens the whole lump. -
Move a little bit away from the Perfect Law Of Liberty and before long you will be in bondage to legalism.

What we are See in our Society is a result of Leaven - Good Leaven and bad Leaven.

Christ commanded us to Preach the Gospel , to be Witnesses of Him , to make an impact on Society for Good.

We are the salt of the earth, the Light of the world.

But Jesus said that salt which has Lost its savor should be thrown out.   It has no Value.   It makes no impact.

What is the "savor" that makes us valuable and effective?

It is the Spirit and the Word.

So, for ourselves we must:
Keep thy Heart with All diligence; for out of it are the Issues of life.

For others we Need to remember that our Opinions and mundane lifestyles don't matter in the long run.

What matters and what makes an Eternal difference is how we operate in the Power of the Holy Spirit and the Living Word of God ,
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. -
This is the order of the day to all believers.

We are each called to publicly proclaim the Gospel.
We are always to be ready to share the Truth
We are to reprimand and censure those who sin.
We are to express strong disapproval of evil.
We are to strongly encourage people to receive Christ.
We are to stay within the authority of the scriptures with these actions.

We need to understand that we are not to harangue individuals with the Gospel, just make sure everyone we know hears it from us.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give. -
This command is to His disciples.
disciples listen to their master, receive His words into their hearts and then they do what He has commanded.

How do we do these things?     On His authority by faith and obedience.
