Everything is digital today. You either touch, tap, and slide or you try speaking to control virtually everything.
I Miss Knobs.
Knobs were attached directly to the device you were trying to control. You could push them, pull them or rotate them to bring about the desired effect.
The location of a knob to control a specific device was fixed relative to the knobs controlling the other devices.
This enabled you to feel your way to the desired device without having to use your eyes. When you touched the knob you received tactile feedback which informed you of the next thing to do with the knob.
With digital touch screen devices you are required to visually stare at the screen in order to be able to navigate. If you think about it, this is a usability step backwards.
Technology does not always make things better - just different.
