God gave man something Lucifer never had - authority.   God gave dominion over the earth to man.   

Lucifer saw what God had given man and coveted it.   God was making mankind not just His creation but He was making them His children.   This was a place of elevation Lucifer could never attain.   

Lucifer's lust for the authority that God had given man caused him to deceive Eve and then Adam into taking his advice rather than God's.   He became ruler of this world by man's abdication and deference to him.   

Lucifer became Satan.   

Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus says the Lord; You seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Eze 28:12

You have been in Eden the garden of the Lord; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created. Eze 28:13

You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set you so: you were upon the holy mountain of the Lord; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Eze 28:14

You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you. Eze 28:15
