Revelation 3:16
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Heat is not three distinct temperatures: cold, lukewarm, hot. It is a continuum.

Is lukewarm-warm acceptable? Is warm acceptable? How hot do you have to be to be acceptable?

All this discussion undermines the Love of God . The reality is that we can only love God in proportion to our awareness of His Love for us.

We are all works in progress. It is Christ who will perfect us as we are His workmanship.

The point of the passage in Rev. is that Christ can work best in a person who realizes their situation. A cold or lost person realizes their hopelessness and turns to the Love of God . A person who is hot is one who is intensely aware of the Love of God and operates in it. A person who is Lukewarm is a person who has been exposed to the Love of God but has been distracted from it and is not moving toward the Love of God . They are joyless, they are loveless, they are powerless, they are useless. But they are Loved because God is Love . The Lukewarm person will experience loss of the wonderful blessings of Christ in their life simply because of their distraction from His Love . They are not living in intimate Relationship with Christ .

Marriage is not always honeymoon. There are things that distract the couple from each other: work, children, other things. But the couple is still married. When the one who is distracted recognizes what they have given up, they turn attention back to their partner and the intensity of Relationship is restored.

The passage in Rev. reveals the frustration of our Lord who is never distracted from us but sees all the loss that occurs when we are not in Love with Him.

Nothing can separate us from the Love of God . Unless a person denies Jesus , He will bring them back into Relationship eventually.

If you see a Lukewarm person, remind them of how much God Loves them. We Love Him because He first Loved us.

Revelation 3:19,20
19 As many as I Love , I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and Repent .
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man Hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
