"Progressive" is a positive word. I don't think anyone considers their path regressive.
The issue is what you are progressing toward. Is the goal an improvement or not?
Again, in your mind you believe it is an improvement.
But that is subjective. If you consider only yourself and people who agree with you then you have to be a progressive (in your own mind).
Back to what you are progressing toward. Is it really an improvement?
To determine the truth you have to be objective and look at facts.
1. Fact: A progressive parent that passifies their child as a matter of course ends up spoiling the child.
2. Fact: A progressive government which hands out money to unproductive people guarantees their nonproductivity.
3. Fact: A progressive government which spends more than it takes in will go bankrupt.
4. Fact: A progressive government which opens its borders will be overrun by riff-raff from other countries.
I could go on but my point is that if we require objectively measurable positive results in order to claim "progressive" we see that the term is currently being used as a mask for the very opposite of progress.
Use of the word "progressive" is just an example of WordHijacking by the Left .
Progress is not always a good thing.
The cancer has progressed to his kidneys.
The termites have progressively destroyed the house.
They are making progressing speedily toward the barricade.
He has progressed from the ignorance of religion to agnosticism to atheism.
He made good progress wasting the fortune he inherited.
We are making progress on the national debt. It is still increasing.
We are making progress eliminating nationalism.
We are making progress toward socialism.
We are making progress undermining the Constitution.
We are making progress converting the religious young into atheists.
We are making progress fragmenting our society.
You see the ugliness of Progressive when the target or goal is evil.
