Sports has effectively become the modern day Religion. Consider the following:
- salaries
- attendance
- TV coverage
- advertising
- youth programs
- commercial products (shirts, hats, cards..).
Loyalty? For one and done players, poor citizens, marginal characters?
Fight? For what? Trophies and big contracts? For people that don't even know me?
Jimbo and the players don't know the fans. The games mean absolutely nothing in life. Why would I fight for someine who doesn't know or care about me?
Not picking on FSU. The same could be said of any school or arbitrary allegiance we form.
We have family, friends and neighbors who we should be investing in. There are real rewards there.
Sorry, but I am done with hype, superficilialty, corruption and poor citizenship that marks organized sports.
