Title: What would Jesus do if He were here on earth today

It is never a good idea to speculate on what people would do if given the opportunity.   It assumes that there previous behaviour will be repeated.   We know that that is not true as people change the minds and attitudes.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
The Lord does not change.   Christ Jesus is the Lord in the flesh and He does not change Mal 3:6

How is it that we live in a world which worships change?   Yes, the inventions which improve the quality of life are good.   But the negative changes in morals and culture represent the direct influence of Satan.

The Enemy and his children tout the negative changes as good when in fact they are evil Isa 5:20

What the Lord has declared still stands.   His definition of good still stands.   And His criteria for acceptance into His kingdom still stands Mar 1:15

Based on that verse it seems reasonable that Christ Jesus would continue being and doing just as He did at His first appearing.

If is also often assumed that we are to follow His example.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
This is one of the most ignored things that Jesus said.   Why?   Because we choose to be believers only.   We resist becoming disciples.

Disciples follow their master in His footsteps learning from Him and imitating Him.

Jesus is telling us that we are to spread the Gospel, heal the sick, set captives free and make disciples of all men.

We can only do this by the power of the HolySpirit operating in a vessel with the MindOfChrist.

What did Jesus mean by 'I go unto my Father'?   Jesus returned to the SpiritRealm (Heaven) when He ascended where the HolySpirit Father is most readily experienced.   It is the seat from where the Majesty emanates throughout the universe.

But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of the Lord to love one another.
The HolySpirit is love and His first fruit to us is love.

To not have a compulsion to love the Lord and one another is a sure sign that the HolySpirit is not in a person.

It is also assumed that we to do what He commanded.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
This is the GreatCommission.   It is still in force.   We are expected to carry the Gospel to every creature.

Jesus did not expect every person to believe, but He wants us to make sure all nations hear the Gospel as it is a criteria for His return.   Mat 24:14

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
This command is to His disciples.
disciples listen to their master, receive His words into their hearts and then they do what He has commanded.

How do we do these things?   On His authority by faith and obedience.

It is also assumed that we will live out His life.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
The statement of a man that knew why he was here and where he was going.

The TestimonyOfJesusChrist was his very life.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of the HolySpirit, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
WaterBaptism is symbolic of what actually happens in the SpiritRealm.

Paul explains that the old SinNature, that we were, is dead and buried with Christ so that we, by GraceThroughFaith, we are raised with Him as NewSpirit beings with the opportunity and power to operate in the newness of AbundantLife John 10:10.

So, we have good information on the expectations that our Lord has concerning us.   We have had His character revealed to us by His Word and we have received His Holy Spirit.   Hence we are rooted and grounded in Him.

However, let's consider how earthly children behave relative to their parents.   And I am considering only those parent-child situations where there is nurturing and training.

As we do so keep in mind that the Holy Spirit of Christ Jesus is our Heavenly Father.

There are many examples of how parents have built and amassed wealth of a particular nature only to have their children change directions, possibly selling the family assets and investing their wealth in things that their parents would not have considered.

This happens because, in the course of time, technology presents new options changing the value system in the marketplace.

Furthermore, relationships change because of individual and national interests changing.   An example is the friendly relationship between the U.S.   and Germany in the 1800's.   But as leadership changed and national interests changed the relationship turned adversarial.

Jesus came to accomplish a very specific goal.
For even the SonOfMan came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Jesus didn't just teach this lesson, He lived it.

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
This is John the Baptist speaking about four things -> WaterBaptism -> repentance -> Jesus -> SpiritBaptism.

WaterBaptism is a sign that the person being baptized is repentant.   Repentance is necessary to access the Grace of the Lord.   Jesus is the object to which we turn toward away from our old ways of thinking, believing and living.

Though John does not mention it here, turning away from the old life to Christ Jesus and confession of Him as the risen Lord confirm our redemption by Grace Rom 10:9,10.

We are redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.   Redemption is all on His part.   We add nothing to it.

Once we are BornAgain as a result of repentance and faith InChrist Jesus we are to be filled with His HolySpirit.

We respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ -> by turning away from unbelief and wickedness -> by believing that Jesus is 'God', -> by receiving Christ Jesus by faith as our Saviour, -> by asking Him to fill us with His HolySpirit.

SpiritBaptism is the end-game for our existence on earth.   -> the HolySpirit is the SpiritOfChrist in us -> the HolySpirit seals us to the Lord Jesus.   -> Receiving the SpiritOfChrist is intimate union with Jesus.   -> the HolySpirit is EternalLife in us -> the HolySpirit in us is our expectation of glory -> the HolySpirit is power in us to do the supernatural.   -> the HolySpirit is the witness of Christ Jesus in us.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The thief is Satan who is the inspiration for all the evil in the world.
Whereas the 'I' is Jesus who offers us EternalLife and AbundantLife.

This verse is a powerful statement contrasting the nature of the enemy with the nature of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Note that the enemy takes by force what is ours, while we must appropriate by faith what is ours in Christ Jesus.
The appropriation is not a 'one and done' thing.   Rather, it is an ongoing process throughout our lives on this earth.

Jesus has given us His life in giving us His HolySpirit who is in every believer who has asked to be filled.   We aught to invoke His life into every aspect of our walk in the earth.

He actually told His disciples that His Kingdom was not of this world.
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
What does Jesus mean by His 'Kingdom is not of this World'?
In His first advent Jesus had a single objective to accomplish - to enable man's relationship with Him to be restored.   He was not concerned with political, social, economic or even religious institutions at His first advent.

Jesus had to be the sacrifice for sin.

His plan was to regenerate and empower man to take dominion over the earth through the power of the HolySpirit by the preaching of the Gospel to every person.

Jesus' plan was for SpiritFilled man to rule the earth as His stewards until His return at which time He would assume the throne of David in the MillennialKingdom.

Jesus came to earth the first time to restore mankind to relationship with His Holy Spirit.   His first coming was not for Him to establish His kingdom on earth.

However, Jesus instructed us to pray that His Kingdom come and that His will be done.
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.   Thy kingdom come.   Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
We need to understand that our the Lord is the HolySpirit who exists in the SpiritRealm (heaven) and He is the one who begot the body of Christ Jesus and He is the one who births us into the SpiritRealm by faith in Christ Jesus.

The HolySpirit has ordained that mankind be the vessels that He dwells in.   Our Lord Jesus is the specifically created body for Him to manifest Himself.   Jesus is the firstfruit of those bodies which the HolySpirit seeks to dwell in.

The HolySpirit chooses to rule the earth through the bodies of humans to whom He has given dominion.

God's will is that the earth be under the dominion of men who honour Him and direct the affairs of other men accordingly.   Adam was give dominion but he relinqushed it to Satan.

Jesus redeemed the earth and made it possible for fallen man to be BornAgain and SpiritFilled in order to take over dominion of the earth in His absence.

Because of the deceit of Satan, man has once again relinquished dominion over the earth to Satan.

When Jesus returns He will reclaim dominion over the earth and establish the MillennialKingdom which is ruled by the HolySpirit filled man, Jesus, just as the Lord had intended from the beginning.

In every sense of the word it is our Lord's will that people of the earth come under His authority.

The mechanism by which His authority is to be taken is through preaching the Gospel.
And the times of this ignorance the Lord winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Notice that the Lord commands people to repent.   He is not pleading with them to repent.   Maybe commanding is what we should be doing?

I guess the question arises: "For what purpose?"
To answer that question we have to go all the way back to the beginning.   Our Lord created the earth (the garden) for man to tend in fellowship with Him.

The preaching of the Gospel is not just to keep people out of Hell but to bring them into fellowship with their Creator and so live and direct life on earth as was originally intended.

We aught not to be 'saved and stuffed'.

The point of this article is to help us understand that our Lord wants us to be imaginative, creative and dominant in fellowship with Him, which means agreement with His Word and His Holy Spirit.
And the Lord blessed them, and the Lord said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Producing Children is priority 1 with our Lord.

Exercising the authority He has given us to improve the world is priority 2.

Since we base our theology on the Word Of The Lord we aught to cask the question: What Will Jesus Do at His return?
