Title: To commune with the Holy Spirit

For prayer to be continuous it must be natural.   It must flow from the awareness of the Holy Spirit in me and me in Him.   There comes a point where the knowledge of oneness enables the imagination of the thoughts of my heart to rest in Him.   I converse with Him in a flow of intimacy beyond any with my closest friend or spouse.   Prayer ceases to be an appointment and becomes my existence.
Prayer does not move the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit has already moved.   He came to earth as a human.   His name is Jesus.   He has forgiven all sin for all time.   He has healed us of all our diseases.   He has provided all things for life and godliness.   He has made us His sons through the New Birth.   He has given us Himself through Spirit Baptism.   He has enabled us to do all things by His power.

So why pray?
To talk to Him and enhance our relationship with Him.
    To thank and praise Him.
To speak His words over the issues of life.
To listen to His Him for guidance.
To prepare to be an overcomer by receiving spiritual understanding from Him.
To release His Grace in your life.

We should come boldly before His throne of Grace in faith in that which He has already provided in Christ Jesus!

Prayer is to fellowship with the Lord.   Praise, thanksgiving and meditation should be the major part of prayer.
Prayer is to prepare
Prayer is to receive
Prayer is not a substitute for action.

Your knees are a starting point to prepare you for the battle.   Once you are prepared you should storm the gates of hell.   Jesus said they will not be able to withstand our assault.   We storm the gates of hell with our testimony of Jesus Christ.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The rock is 'the testimony of Jesus Christ'.     It is what saves us and enables us to overcome.

The church is the body of all believers in Christ Jesus.     The body is made up of people with 'the testimony of Jesus Christ'.

The Gates Of Hell will not withstand the church when the church wields its testimony.

Once we have prayed we should speak and act.    Prayer alone will not change someone else.    It takes the Truth.   Jesus said you will know the Truth and it will make you free.   Our lives are changed by relationship with Jesus.   We cannot pray a relationship with Christ on someone else.   We must witness to them of His love and Grace.   As James said, add works to your faith.
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
The purpose of faith is to appropriate that which Grace has provided.     If nothing has been appropriated then that faith is dead.     Appropriation is the materialization in the Physical Realm of a Spiritual Blessing in Heavenly Places.

  • On the subject of Prayer:
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
The Lord is the most intelligent being in the unverse.     He hears us the first time we speak.     As a matter of fact, He knows what we need before we even ask.     On top of that, He knows the imagination of the thoughts of our hearts.

Prayer?     Keep it simple.     Keep it sincere.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
In prayer 'acknowledgement' should be a mainstay.
        acknowledge His sovereignty.
        acknowledge His goodness.
        acknowledge His blessings.
        acknowledge His love.
        acknowledge His provision.
        acknowledge His Plan.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
A desire is the object of hope.     Desiring and Hoping are activities of the imagination.

Faith is the state of our heart regarding that which we desire.

Jesus is telling us to visualize a desire, ask for it and immediately receive it in faith.

The act of desiring, hoping, asking, believing and receiving by faith is a seed that is planted.     The manifestation of that which is desired is the harvest.

The Spiritual Law of Seed Time And Harvest is foundational to all that the Lord has created.

    1) We sow
    2) the Lord produces
    3) We harvest.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
    To abide in Jesus is:
to be Baptized In The Name Of Jesus Christ
to be filled with His Holy Spirit.
to have the Mind Of Christ.

When you are in the Holy Spirit, in the Word and have the Mind Of Christ, you know that He has provided all things for life and godliness, so that when you ask, you receive .

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
'Whatsoever' has no bounds, no limits.
Can you, will you believe what Jesus says here?

Jesus wants us to ask for whatever we desire using His name.
    Why in His name?
It is only polite to speak to God using His name.
It demonstrates our faith in Jesus as God, our provider.

When we ask in the name of Jesus, He will fulfill our desire glorifying His Heavenly Father.

How does answered prayer glorify our Heavenly Father?
Jesus is the express image of His Holy Spirit Father.
It is by the power of His Holy Spirit Father that this promise is kept.

Think about how asking and not receiving actually denigrates our Heavenly Father.     It makes Him appear unconcerned, unloving.

Jesus was the original faith preacher.     So, when He makes a statement like this, He assumes you have taken to heart His command:
    Have Holy Spirit faith!

Faith is not something we conjure up.     It comes by hearing believing and receiving the Word Of The Lord.

When we hear, believe and receive the Word, the Holy Spirit in us can manifest His fruit of supernatural faith, which can accomplish anything .

Get into the Word until you have faith in it.     Then when you speak the Word it will accomplish our Lord's purpose by His Holy Spirit .

If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
    What a promise!

Christ Jesus has signed a blank check for us.     By faith we fill the check in and cash it.

Do you believe the Word Of The Lord?
If so, meditate on this verse until you are convinced of the totality of our Father's love and the magnificence of Christ's provision for us by Grace Through Faith.

Who is the one that we ask?     The Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Carnal Minded believers will likely be petty and selfish in their requests.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
    Asking is necessary .
    Believing is critical .

When we ask in faith we receive .

For the sick to be saved is for them to be made whole.

Sickness and sin are closely connected.     When a person comes to Christ Jesus in faith they are made whole - in their Spirit Soul And Body.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.     The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Effectual prayer is prayer that produces results.     Results come from speaking in faith.

Fervent prayer is prayer that issues from your Heart Faith, from a place of compassion and earnestness.

We are instructed here to pray one for another.     This is speaking about the body of Christ and members praying for other members.

We are not to pray for unbelievers without first presenting the healer to them.     We are to witness to unbelievers so that they become believers and then we pray for their other needs.

If a person rejects Christ Jesus they are to suffer the consequences of their sin.     Don't ask the Lord to violate His Word.
Remember, it was Jesus' teaching that produced faith for the healings that followed.

In the first part of this verse James is not talking about airing dirty laundry.
We are to confess our offense to the person we offended.

    Pray without ceasing.
We ought to walk in awareness of the Holy Spirit in us such that all our thoughts are shared with Him and processed in accordance with His Word.
In so doing, we pray without ceasing.

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of the Holy Spirit, and of Jesus our Lord,
Increasing in knowledge of Christ increases the level of peace one experiences and increases the flow of Grace.

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
The power of the Lord manifests in and through us to the extent of our knowledge of Him.

    - You must know that you are accepted in the beloved ,
You must know that you are healed by His stripes ,
You must know that He wants you to prosper ,
You must know that the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you ,
You must know that you have authority over the enemy ,
You must know that you have the power to bind and to loose ,
You must know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you .

How do you know these things?
You hear, believe, receive and do the word of the Lord.     (see He Be Re Do)

Decide that you will have the Mind Of Christ and then do what Jesus did to become the instrument of the Lord Jesus
    1.     heard the Word Of The Lord ,
    2.     believed the Word Of The Lord ,
    3.     was baptised with His Holy Spirit ,
    4.     Spoke and did the Word Of The Lord .

It is in following the example of Christ Jesus that we manifest His virtue, His power and His glory.

Who has called us to glory and virtue?
        the Word
        the Holy Spirit
The Word is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that informs us.
The Holy Spirit is the one that draws us to Christ.
Believers are to preach the Gospel.

Likewise the Holy Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Holy Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Praying In The Spirit is critical because of the dullness of our minds.     Our Prayer Language is a vehicle by which our infirmities are healed.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Holy Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of the Lord.
Understand this verse by knowing that 'he', 'Spirit', and 'God' are all referring to the Holy Spirit who is in us through Spirit Baptism.

So we see that the Holy Spirit reveals His mind and will to us as He searches our hearts and makes intercession for us as we pray in our Prayer Language.

It is His will for us to prosper and be in good health as our soul prospers .      The Lord wants us to be whole lacking nothing .

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
When we align with the Lord, we do those things which prosper, which bring fruit.

We align ourselves with the Lord when we are called by the Holy Spirit and respond in faith to Christ Jesus' finished work.

His Plan is that we be His children, be filled with His spirit, do His works and manifest His glory.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
Speaking In Tongues is an act of faith and trust in the Holy Spirit.     Though we do not know what is being said, we have confidence in the edification that is occurring.

What is it then?     I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
Praying in tongues is a supernatural exercise.     Let the Holy Spirit pray through you and for you.     After praying in the Spirit listen for divine interpretation as He gives you direction and clarity on issues.

Sing in the Spirit!     When we are truly in a worship state, our thoughts and emotions soar beyond the lyrics.     Sing in the Spirit and take worship to a new level.

    Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Holy Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Talking to the Lord in the Spirit ( Prayer Language) is how we build ourselves up in faith .      It enables us to pray effectually and fervently .

When we have asked and believed that we have received the request, we then persevere until we see the manifestation .

When supplication is made for others we must encourage them in the faith, to believe that they have received the petition and to persevere until the manifestation.

By watching we are expecting and looking to see the manifestation.
