Dog fighting may be offensive to a lot of people, including myself.   However, it is a practice involving animals .   Dogs are not special animals.   Many people have elevated them to special status through misappropriated love .   This is tantamount to worship.

When you look at the public reaction to Michael Vick's conviction on dog fighting charges you see clear evidence of how warped our society is.   Here's what I mean:

  • Pets outnumber people in the United States by about 60 million
  • In 2005 $36.3 billion was spent on pet food and health care
  • 5 year sentence for dog fighting - 3 year minimum involuntary man slaughter sentence
  • we slaughter 35 million cows annually in the USA
  • 23 million chickens are killed each day in the U.S.
  • 3700 human abortions are performed each day
  • how about insects killed with automobiles and insecticides
Now lets just look at this rationally for a moment.   Pretend you are an animal with a choice.   Had you rather be given the chance to fight to stay alive or simply marched into a slaughterhouse to be unceremoniously killed?   I guess the animal rights folks would say that killing and eating animals is wrong.   Again, what about the insects?   What about predator animals and vermin?

On this issue there is no room for compromise.   Either all animals are sacred or none are sacred.   The answer is obvious - none are sacred.   Animals are organisms provided by God to serve man in any capacity he thinks best.

Animal rights folks choose to love animals and hate people.

I choose to eat animals and love people.
