Government's primary role is to ensure freedom.
Since government has no resources it cannot provide services except by taking resources from one person and providing them to another.
Taking is immoral ( Thou shalt not steal ).
Hence, taxation (taking) is at best a "necessary evil".
The question becomes "What is necessary?"
The answer comes back to the prime directive for government: protect freedom.
Freedom is the only right whose protection can justify taxation.
Law enforcement (focused on protecting Individuals) and national defense (focused on protecting the nation) are honorable government services.
Taxing all citizens to pay for the honorable service of protecting freedom is necessary.
Any other government services (all of which require taxation) are dishonorable because they sacrifice freedom.
Pork, special interest and patronizing are the natural outgrowths of excessive government taxation.
Wealth redistribution is immoral except when done by God or by an individual motivated by God.
To whom, from whom, how much, how often are questions that no government is capable of handling efficiently, effectively and equitably.
Americans need the Holy Spirit in them so they can know true freedom and so they can discern who needs to be helped.
Helping someone is solving their problem, not enabling them in their problem.
Christ came to set the captive free. That is the solution for each American and for the country as a whole.
